An earthquake precursor mobile network

چکیده

It is widely known that very low frequency/low frequency (VLF/LF) radiation has been recorded prior to large earthquakes in several seismically active countries of the world. The networks employed detect this consist stationary transmitters and receivers. However, there are reported cases existing being unable any electromagnetic earthquakes. In study, we determined optimal arrangement a mobile VLF/LF network ensure detection an upcoming earthquake precursor. We considered possible arrangements based on certain physical considerations, developed relatively simple completely different from networks. suggested design will significantly increase number detected/predicted by using relevant receivers strategically placed regions increased tectonic seismic activity.

7 Radon as Earthquake Precursor

Earthquake predictions are based mainly on the observation of precursory phenomena. However, the physical mechanism of earthquakes and precursors is at present poorly understood, because the factors and conditions governing them are so complicated. Methods of prediction based merely on precursory phenomena are therefore purely empirical and involve many practical difficulties. A seismic precurs...

Radon as an Earthquake Precursor – Methods for Detecting Anomalies

Radon is one of many geophysical and geochemical phenomena that can be considered to be an earthquake precursor. Due to the non-linear dependence of earthquakes’ initial conditions, the question about the predictability of earthquakes often arises (Geller, 1997). The successful prediction of earthquakes is yet to be accomplished, in terms of their magnitude, location and time, and much effort h...

Surface latent heat flux as an earthquake precursor

The analysis of surface latent heat flux (SLHF) from the epicentral regions of five recent earthquakes that occurred in close proximity to the oceans has been found to show anomalous behavior. The maximum increase of SLHF is found 2–7 days prior to the main earthquake event. This increase is likely due to an ocean-land-atmosphere interaction. The increase of SLHF prior to the main earthquake ev...

Understanding Animal Detection of Precursor Earthquake Sounds

We use recent research to provide an explanation of how animals might detect earthquakes before they occur. While the intrinsic value of such warnings is immense, we show that the complexity of the process may result in inconsistent responses of animals to the possible precursor signal. Using the results of our research, we describe a logical but complex sequence of geophysical events triggered...

Scaling and precursor motifs in earthquake networks

A measure of the correlation between two earthquakes is used to link events to their aftershocks, generating a growing network structure. In this framework one can quantify whether an aftershock is close or far, from main shocks of all magnitudes. We find that simple network motifs involving links to far aftershocks appear frequently before the three biggest earthquakes of the last 16 years in ...
